Questions about the network
Answers to what people ask most before they connect devices to GeoWAN.
What is LoRaWAN?
LoRaWAN is a wireless network standard designed for devices that send small amounts of data over long distances using very little power, such as meters, sensors and trackers.
The standard is maintained by the LoRa Alliance. Read their overview of LoRaWAN for the technical detail.
How can I access your network?
Contact us with details of your use case: where your devices will be, how many there are and what they measure. Send an enquiry or call 1300 436 926.
How much does it cost to use my devices on the GeoWAN network?
Pricing depends on your use case. Tell us about your project and we will come back to you with details.
What if there is no coverage where I need it?
Contact us with the area you need covered. Once your project is approved, we send you a GeoWAN gateway to install there.
Does a GeoWAN gateway need an internet connection?
Yes. Gateways connect to the internet so your devices can reach the GeoWAN network. You can use your existing internet service, a standard 4G modem or a satellite terminal.
Can I connect my own gateway to the GeoWAN network?
Not at this stage. GeoWAN gateways are designed and tested to work with our network, which keeps the service dependable for everyone using it. Third party gateways cannot be connected yet.
Which devices can I use?
Any third party end device that complies with the LoRaWAN AU v1.0.3 specification can connect, whichever manufacturer makes it.
